My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 17 Gym Leader Wallace

So with the world of Pokemon safe once more I decide to take on the last Gym Leader of Hoenen, Wallace.  With 1Standchu by my side and a single HM slave that was required to get into the gym I'm off.

Now this gym puzzle used to stump me A LOT when I was a kid, yet I was able to figure each section of it on my first try.  Guess I'd study the strategy guide so had back in the day that I still remember it today.  That or I was just a stupid kid back then. >_>  Still, I fell down on purpose so I could train off the gym trainers while I still could.  Not sure if 1Standchu still needs the experience but I figure I might as well take the experience and the cash while I still can.

After that, it was time to finally go up face-to face against the gym leader.  I'll admit I was caught off guard the first time I fought him.  I keep thinking that he had a Ludico, which he only has in Emerald, and was totally not ready for the Wishcast he actually did have which proceeded to KO me as soon as I finished off his Lovdisc.

So second time around I took advantage of the fact that Lovdisc is pretty weak and the worst it can do is confuse and attract Standchu to use a hole bunch of X-items.  I believe I used 5 X-Attacks, 5 X-Defense, that item that raises critical hits who's name slips my mind, and 2 X-Specials for good measures.  Honestly, it was probably over-kill but hey, better safe than sorry.

Attraction and confusion together is pretty bad but with my Yellow Flute confusion isn't a problem and Attract will go away once I can break through it for a KO.  After setting up I proceed to 1-hit KO sweep the rest of his team.  Even the Wishcast and even a Milotic.  I did use Sweet Kiss just to be on the safe side with Milotic but I probably didn't even need it.

With my flawless victory, flawless in sense of difficulty of the final attempt not really meaning in one attempt, the Rain Badge is mine!  I also get the TM for Water Pulse, but I can't really do much with that considering 1 Standchu is my only battling Pokemon.

With that all that remains is the Pokemon League.  So first off, back to the mall to stock up on X-Items, I'll probably make quite a bit of use out of them.  Then I might double check to see if I have the return TM, and teach it to Standchu if I do, otherwise, I know where to get it.  Return with max Friendship is one of the strongest normal-type moves in the game so I think it'll be much more useful than Facade.  Maybe I'll look up where to get a Twistedspoon and a Magnet too.  I'm surprised I've ran into so few held-items that boost attack in this game.  After all that perpetration, it'll be time to head off to the Pokemon League.

Sick + Exam Week = Delays in Videos

Hey there JackitK here. As you may know if you follow me on Twitter, I haven't really been feeling my best lately, and it's to the point that it's affecting my efficiency. Plus I have to admit I didn't really do a good job planning the release of these new LPs since they occur right on my last week of school work for the quarter and I have a lot of class work to get done. I should just say that I'm delaying the release of these and all of my uploads until I get back from break.

However, I've been waiting to release these Let's Plays as much as you guys probably having been waiting to watch them. So this is what I have planned. I'll be releasing the first episode of Golden Sun the Lost Ages and of Mario Party 2 Minigame Coaster Sat. & Sun. respectfully there will be no more uploads the rest of the week.

I may upload one video of each playthrough the week I'm home but because of my home internet connection, if I do upload, it will be of lower quality then I plan on my videos being and I'll only be uploading one GS video, one Mario Party, and one JackitK tries. This is will not be guarentee and depends completely on how I feel and if I can hog the internet at home long enough to even upload a single video.

On the bright-side the week after that, I should be able to go back to my planned schedule of Golden Sun every Sun., Tues., and Thursday while Mario Party 2 gets updated every Mon. & Wed. with the usual JackitK Tries every other Friday.

That is the current plan. I apologize for so many delays on Project Golden Sun and thank you for your patience through all of this. If I make any more changes to this plan, I will be sure to alert you about them through my Twitter at www.twitter.com/Jackitstuff.

I'll try to make this announcement on my Youtube as well later today but in case something happens I have it up here.

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 16 The Legend of Kygore

So I make it to the city I said I was heading for, Sootoplis yeah, thanks scene I'm about to explain. So I meet up with Steven who introduces me to Walace. Since I have the blue orb I guess its up to me to go into the Cave of Origins to save the day.

Making my way through the cave it starts getting dark. I could get TelePort to use flash. But I don't feel like going back and I can make my way around pretty good in the dark. Sorry TelePort. :(

Stumbling around I happen to find the HM for Waterfall. It turns out Underbelly can learn the move. Hurray for not having to go get another HM slave!

At the very depths of the cave I find Kyogre. I'm not sure if I should catch it or just defeat it. It's not like I'm using it either way. Trying to catch it would be harder but seeing how it gets a critical hit with Ice Beam I don't even want to bother.

So with that I defeated Kyogre and saved the world! Now to backtrack out due to a lack of escape ropes... ._. Well at least I'm able to get 1Standchu to lv. 62 with the experience from all the freakin Zubats. Sorry I was too close to leveling up to resist fighting a couple of them.

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 15 Into the Dark of a Legendary Lair

So now that we can use the HM Dive outside of battle, before we chase after Team Aqua I decide to go get a Yellow Shard which is needed to trade to an NCP for a Thunderstone.  But first a Pokemon that actually can learn Dive.  I catch a random Tenacool I decide to call underbelly, he'll be my official Dive slave and hopefully it can learn waterfall so it can be my Waterfall HM slave as well.

Unfortunately I have terrible luck finding said Yellow Shard.  After searching around the water area where dive is used and checking the dive spots I could find, I have no luck getting a Yellow Shard.  I even search around online following any advice I could with no luck.  Thankfully I was able to find a random LPer who just so happen to show off collecting items including the shards.  Not exactly a playthrough I'd watch with the time I had but it was still nice to actually be able to follow him around until he collected the shard.

After finally getting that, I then trade the shard for the Thunderstone so now I can evolve 1Standchu whenever/if ever I feel the need for it.  But now that I got that, onward after Team Aqua.

Now, you're suppose to follow a really huge dive area around until you find an underwater cave.  If your at the right place you'll see the submarine Team Aqua stole there.  Dive up and now it's time to pursue the villains and own them, yeah!  Unfortunately it's not that easy this time, not because team Aqua is actually a threat now, no there's... strength and current puzzles.

After not realizing strength was needed and forgetting I got rid of strength on 1Standchu.  I had to backtrack to get a Pokemon that could learn strength.  Thankfully Nanny can learn it so I teach it to him.  Besides that, the current puzzle was the worst part.  It took a good amount of time and thinking to figure out how to get by the current, and guess what I was rewarded with after getting by that?  About 15 rocks blocking my way that I have to carefully move in order to get by.  Somehow I got it on my first try though.

With that all that remains between me and the goal of this place is Archie himself.  While it could of gone bad it didn't.  Mighyena wasn't too bad, though Intimidate was annoying to have.  Either way, it went down to a few Thunderbolts after a bit of a healing war.  Next up came Crobat since all it really could do to me is use Confuse Ray, I used this moment to get a few X-Specials up just in case.  I then used the Yellow Flute to get rid of any confusion I had and finished it off with a Thunderbolt.  Last but defiantly not least was Sharpedo.  It went down to one Thunderbolt but not before almost KOing 1Standchu with a Slash attack.  Thankful it wasn't a critical and I won.

Not like that whole battle mattered, Team Aqua still messed things up by the Red Orb Summoning Kygore making it rain heavily.  If this keeps up the whole world will drown.  Great job guys. >_<  Well only thing that can be done is to head over to Sootopolis city and see if there is anything we can do...

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 14 Mossdeep City

So I then head towards Mossdeep City, where the next gym is.   Actually I get there a lot quicker than I thought I would.  Only ran into one trainer on the way there.  I do happen to find a King's Rock in town, might make use out of that.  I also happen to get the Dive HM.  Would be awesome if I had a Pokemon that could learn it and if I didn't have to get the Mossdeep gym badge first.  Well since I'm not ready for the gym time to find trainers and a Pokemon that can learn dive.  Lucky enough I found a tentacool and I'm pretty sure it can learn surf, dive, and waterfall so I'm holding on to that.

So I managed to make it all the way to Pacifidlog Town.  So I then go to the left to try and get any items I can.  And I guess experience & money from the trainers is nice.  But it doesn't really feel necessary at this point.  I'll probably need the experience later on.  No yellow shard, which I really want to get so I can get the Thunderstone for 1Standchu.  But I did get a Rare Candy, so that'll be useful.  I think I've gotten all the items I can, so all I can really do is take on the gym.

So I take out all the trainers of the gym... well most of them at least.  Time to heal save and take this on.  Now truth be told, going into this gym, I'm worried.  The problem, it's a double battle and since it's an Only Run, I'm going into this Gym with just 1Standchu.  I got no time to set up with it being a 2 VS one.  The good part about the gym is each of the leaders only have one Pokemon so if I can take one of them out it'll be a fair 1 VS 1.  The question is, can I take out a Pokemon and live to have that 1 VS 1 match?  Let's find out... Wait really?  The gym leaders refuse to fight you if you have just one Pokemon?  And I just took forever resolving that gym puzzle 2! >_<

That's right it's literally impossible to go through this game with just one Pokemon in your party. (That's stupid.)  Don't worry this fight will be as close to an Only Run as I can still.  I guess HM Helper will just get a little extra action.  Note he's still at Lv.6 so don't worry, he's not gonna be helping in the gym battle too much.

So actually makes the fight slightly easier since there's a target for them to hit besides 1Standchu... oh wait they're at Lv.42 each?  I mean 1Standchu is level 60 but still... let's if this works Thunbolt on Solrock.  Solrock wastes it's turn doing Sunny day and Lunatone takes out HM Helper.  Perfect now to finish Sol...shoot I didn't mean to target Lunatone! So that mistake cost me a burn.  No biggy Solrock goes down this time...and Lunatone used Light Screen... what a waste.  I'll just heal my health and burn and be good....*1Standchu faints* OK, I should of probably used a Full Restore instead of trying to use a Hyper Potion then a Full Heal...

Round 2:
OK no making stupid mistakes this time, this battle is in the bag!  So I did the same thing I did before at the start of the battle this time I manage to paralyze the Solrock and Lunatone goes for a Calm Mind letting HM helper live... umm... OK...well this time I took out Solrock with full health so despite the the special boost I can still...Hypnosis really on the Pokemon I'm actually fighting with?  And more Calm Mind spamming did the computer just realize that HM Helper is there for death fodder and is taking advantage of it?  *********  Still can't wake 1Standchu up.  I should of just used the stupid full heal.  Thankfully it woke up just in time to pull off the Sweet Kiss and Lunatone hurt itself in confusion instead of pwning me with a super buff Psychic... I go for the item to raise my critical because with it's current sp.def my thunderbolt is doing nothing... and it breaks through confusion & one-hit-KOs me with Psychic... .__.

Round 3:
OK new plan, Kings Rock on 1Standchu is pointless.  I don't got a Magnet though.  So I'm giving him a Chesto berry so the last round doesn't repeat itself.  So yeah, blah blah I heard this twice already let's just go!  So now Solrock does Psychic on Pikachu and Lunatone just Calm Minds... Solrock goes down and only Lunatone remains... again.  Go for the Sweet Kiss and hope for confusion hurt which I'm lucky enough to get. I mange to get three thunderbolts in while it's fighting off the confusion and YES I won the battle!

So with that I finally get the Mind Badge... YES!  I can use Dive outside of battle, Yellow Shard that'll snag me a Thunderstone, here I come!  I also got Calm Mind, can 1Standchu learn it?  It would be useful if he...of course he can't learn it.  But HM Helper did pick something up... A Full Restore... that could of been helpful.  Well, I have it now.  So I guess now I'm gonna take a break from this only run and next time I start, I'll finally be able to get a Thunderstone.

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 13 Team Aqua Strikes Again

So after my disapointment of a lack of Thunderstones, I headed off to Mt. Pyre.  Well not quite, I went pass Mt. Pyre first to collect all the items and fight all the trainers I could in the process.

In the process someone in our dorm derped enough to forget to put a little certain something called water into their EasyMac which set off all the fire alarms, forcing everyone to leave the building.  Thankful I had my DS in my hands so I just did a lot of playing of my Only Run while waiting around outside.  Wish I could say this was a shocking experience but honestly the fire alarm goes off so often around here from stupid things like that, I don't take fire alarms seriously anymore and these "fire drills" are more of an annoyance than anything else.  Like I said, got lots done with the Only Run so I'm not complaining too loud.

So after all that I get back inside to actually go through Mt. Pyre not outside in the cold.  There's actually two paths to it, the plot related path and the path with trainers and items.  So of course I took the later first, getting a bunch of stuff including the TM for Shadow Ball (can't teach it to 1 Standchu which is a bummer but oh well, I get the feeling his moveset isn't gonna change to much between now and the end of the game).

So after that I took the path up Mt. Pyre I was suppose to take.  Guess what guys?  Team Aqua has taken over Mt. Pyre!  All not one not two not even three but four of their grunts.  Whatever shall I... oh yeah Lv.54 Pikachu... that takes care of that.  I actually struggled more with organizing my item space for all the items I was getting than over Team Aqua.  I ended up catching about 4 ghost Pokemon just to hold items for me until I could get back to the PC.  I even used a rare candy just to make room for items.  Granted, I made sure it didn't go to waste when I used it but still...

So despite my me handing Team Aqua's butts to them, they still somehow manage to steal an orb from old people.  Now this orb is important for something but I don't feel like explaining it all. Just trust me when I say it's relvant to the plot.  I get handed the other orb that is suppose to be with it.  So I give Team Aqua the other one?  I kid, we got to get the orb they stole back.

So being the plot-convenience villains they are they happen to tell me we're they were going before they left, so time to pursuit!  So we're at Slateport to stop them from stealing a submarine but being the heroes we are, we fail to stop them.  Well, time to Team Aqua's base back at Lilcove.  Oh by the way, yes, the bad guys did tell us to go there.  I see why Team Magma and Aqua fail so hard now.

So in there I roam around beating all the bad guys and collecting items.  *Wanders around a bit*  Oh wait Archie I didn't mean to find you yet, I still got to get the Master Ball!  ....funny you can walk away from him after the explanation point appears above his head.  I never knew that before.  So after wandering around I found some more PP restoring items as well as the Master Ball.  (Yes Team Aqua leaves a valuable item like a Masterball laying right out in the open, I think we've gotten across how mart they are by now though.)  Not that I can actually use it in my Only Run, but there's got to be  something I can catch between my 3rd and 4th generation games with it.  Maybe even 5th generation if I could transfer items to that game but noooo Nintendo thinks it's cool for me to start all my item collect from scratch. >_>

So I've gotten a ton of rare candies and PP restoring items between my collecting from the beginning of this blog post to now. I'm certainly glad for that since I'll need all the PP restoring items I can get for the Elite Four.  I thought I would have to worry about running out of PP for moves, but I think I'll be good especially if there's more of such items to come.  By the way, 1Standchu is now at Lv. 57.

Now that I got everything that I wanted, now to take on Archie hopefully he hasn't gotten the idea of running away betw... what do you know he's still there but wait he's actually grunt... his a super grunt or an admin.  I honestly wasn't expecting a fight and didn't heal but I'm not too worried not even though 1Standchu is paralyzed.  Electrodes, that's how.  So just like I though I just Thunderbolt sweep his team, after fighting against the paralysis of course.  Oh noz Mightyena Swagger me, but wait I break through a para-fuision to defeat the admin, awesome. :D  Not that this fight was any bit of a struggle.

But sadly that guy was just stalling for time too.  Archie got away on his "I-don't-know-what-color-submarine", maybe if I didn't try to get all the items in the dungeon first he wouldn't of gotten away.  Who am I kidding?  It's an RPG time never matters.

Oh and in case you were wondering, yes the super grunt did indeed give-away where Archie was going, though at least he was more vague then all the other advice we've gotten straight from the dumb villain's mouth so far. :P

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 12 Safari Zone & Shopping with Bret

So first off I finally got the Pokeblock case so I can finally get into the Safari Zone. You may be wondering why I would want to even bother with the Block case in an Only Run. Well basically I looking for more Pikachus. More specifically, one that is holding a Light Ball, a held item that increases Pikachu's special attack.

Now getting this item is a real pain in this game. First I got to find Pikachus in the Safari Zone which is a tedious task in itself just have to scoot around in the grass until you find one which would be fine if they weren't uncommon. Even if you do find one you can't weaken it to catch it, and Pokemon in the Safari Zone can and will run away from you while you throw balls at them. Finally a Pikachu has a real low chance of holding a Light Ball so even if you catch a dozen you may still not get the item.

So after hours in the Safari Zone I come out with 4 Pikachus, 2 of them with Oran Berries and no Light Balls. I guess if I want 1Standchu to get stronger I'll have to evolve it. Speaking of evolving and the Thunderstone, isn't Bret still in front of the Pokemon Mall? I think it's about time I take care of him. But before that, time to stock up on X-items!

So my first attempt is a flop because Marstomp makes all the Xitems I used go to waste with a critical hit Mud Shot. >_<. So I learned the Swellow he sends out likes to spam Double Team which would be great for setting up if it wasn't boosting evasion. But with +2 defense and a critcal hit boost I take Swellow down.

Then comes Marstomp, I get a Sweet Kiss and my guards Spec up so I don't lose too much speed. Then I get lucky enough to take it out with a critcal Facade in one hit. Then comes Shroomish it seem to no longer have Leech Seed so its only threat is through poison. I take advantage of this by getting to more defense boost just in case. Did have to use a Full Restore but besides that not much trouble.

Now last up was his Numel, it went down surprisingly easily. Just one Facade and it hurting itself in confusion in the same turn and Bret was defeated. Now for my prize... all the Xitems I can buy under one roof! Oh and Lemonaid that'll be helpful. But where's the Thunderstones? I could of sworn they sold the elemental stones here. :( If not here, then where? I guess I have some Googling to do...

So apparently I can't get the Thunderstone until I can use dive... that could be a problem. Maybe I should try again to get the Light ball after all...

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 11 Birdy Gym Leader but no Safari Zone.

So in that next route I meet up with that Steven guy again.  He shows me off a device that makes invisible Pokemon visible.  Convenient anyone?  Well we get that.  Before I head off to the gym I decide to continue exploring the route and taking out as many of the trainers I can while I'm on it to save myself time later.

So after using as much energy as I can out of 1 Standchu, my Ralts teleports us back to the Poke'Center.  After healing Standchu up,  feel ready to take on the gym.  As you can guess, the gym is a flying type so there isn't really anything I was worry about in the gym.  Like I thought, none of the gym trainers gave me any trouble.  The gym leader, on the otherhand, didn't go as planed.

It would of been smooth sailing if it wasn't for her Alteria.  I hit with a thunderbolt.  I realize that its Dragon/Flying type makes electric attacks deal only neutral damage.  Well I think, "meh no big deal, I can still take it out".  And then the dang thing does Earthquake.... O__O  As you  may have guess, that Earthquake whited me out.

I restarted of course and on this second attempt against the leader I didn't mess around.  From the first Pokemon I set up Standchu for the challenge to come.  I used 3 X-defends on him.  But her Swellow kept double-teaming so I basically said "screw it!" and used a fourth X-defend.

After taking the Swellow out the Alteria hit the field.  Gave it the good old Sweet Kiss treatment and then used Strength instead of Thunderbolt.  I think it's actually stronger considering Standchu's item is currently a Silk Scarf and I wasn't getting the Super Effective hit.  Strangely enough it did not use Earthquake the second time around at all.  I think she knew my defenses were too high to do anything plus the confusion helps.

So after that the gym was a joke.  A Pepplier... X4 weakness to electric.... Goodbye!  And with that I get a new gym badge.  Time to move on to a new town.  In the process, I decide to try out that Hidden Power TM on a local Kelcon.  I find out the Hidden Power is Psychic.  Personally I was hoping for Ice but Psychic could come in handy for Grass/Poison types so I held on to it.

Clearing the rest of the trainers in the route I come acrosss Team Aqua who seem to have plans for Mt. Pyre.  I'll check that out later but first Safari Zone yeah!!!  Wait... I need that stupid Pokeblock case just to get in?  Awwwh... it's an only run but I thought it might of helped to at least catch a find a Lightball to give 1 Standchu...until I find a Pokemon that can learn fly that can't be help...on to Lillycove City.

So when I finally get to town first thing I do is scavenge the place for all the items I can find.  Sadly I can't go to the Pokemart where I'll probably need to get a Thunderstone 'cause dang Bret is blocking the entrance and I don't feel like fighting him yet.  After that I surf the water to the right of town.  Team Aqua is blocking my progression but I'm hoping I can at least get my hands on a Wingull to teach Fly to.  Lucky enough I find just that.

So getting my new Fly "helper" Soarin (Unoriginal?  Who really cares? It's an HM slave)  I fly to Slaport to finally give my Ralts a real nickname and that not a stupid one that doesn't make sense to me anymore.  I figure I should give him at least the honor of having something less stupid before going into the PC than RLight for a nickname so I name him TelePort. :p  With Soarin I'm afraid we won't be needing TelePort anymore.  Unless we come across some Flash puzzles.

So I fly back to Lillycove city and that's pretty much were the story ends for now.  Probably should look into what Team Aqua is up to either at their base in Lillycove or with that mob that went to Mt. Pyre.  Oh and Bret gotta take care of him to.  He's probably gonna be the fight of my life with his two ground types being stronger than they ever were before but 1 Standchu is at Lv. 53 and with Soarin to Fly me, I can restock on X-items whenever I need them.  So I should be fine, but we'll see how this works out the next time I play this solo run.

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 10 Bret and the Invisible Wall

So today I went on to beating Bret, who's full name I can't spell today.  I didn't have to restart but it certainly was a nice battle for one hit-KOing so many Pokemon lately.  Shroomish wasn't too hard until I realized it Leeched Seeded 1 Standchu.  I was a little worried about Marstomp but between Sweet Kiss and healing I was able to finish it off.  He also had a Numel that had me on my toes.  But I pulled it through and won.  Bret gave me TM fly.  Nice, now I don't need my Ralts to teleport me...oh yeah the next gym's badge is required to use it... plus I never caught a Pokemon that could learn the move before hand.

So with after clearing any of the trainers that may be blocking my way, I make it to the next town... or more like a village with how they all live in tree houses.  Checking out the houses one of  the ladies wanted to see if I have discovered my hidden power and I did so in exchange I got the TM for hidden power depending on what type 1 Standchu's hidden power is, this could be very useful.  Either way it's probably the only way for 1 Standchu to have certain move types.  But take a look at that later.

Well the gym is blocked by an invisible wall so I guess I can't go there now.  I mean invisible walls?  Really Nintendo?  Not really, we'll find out what that really is soon enough. :p  But either way all we can do is go to the next route.

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 9 Weather Insitute

So I continue along my Pokemon Adventure.  You know, doing this Only Run it seems like the more I play the easier the game gets and hence things become less memorable.  It's really weird considering all the times you're told that raising a bunch of Pokemon is better than raising just one.  But then again the first few gyms were a real pain with just one Pokemon.

I collected berries, items, and trainers along the really tall grass and making a stop by the Berry Master's place to take all of his berries.  Remember time doesn't work on my game so it's not like I could grow any new ones or get new berries from him the next day.  1 Standchu didn't struggle against any of the trainers either.  So after all of that I make it to the Weather Institute I beat all the Team Aqua Members including the boss.  No problems with any of them as 1 Standchu took them all out in one attack, maybe two attacks for the admin's Pokemon.  After all that I got a Castform.  Yippee!  Well it's an Only Run so I can't use it, maybe some other day in some other game...

I guess with all that now I can at least take on Bret who I know isn't too far ahead from the Weather Institute... will 1 Standchu have any problems taking him down?  Find out next time.

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 8 Pwning Daddy

Been a while since I've blogged about this.  Ever since starting school I haven't been able to play GBA games because I haven't brought my DS with me but this time I did so hurray for actually being able to do this Only Run!

Anyways. since the last part I got major hints that we should go back to the gym our trainer's dad owned but first a trip to the desert with our newly obtained GoGo Googles to beat some trainers and pick-up some items.  Including a fossil, which I won't actually be using since this is an only run but I might revive it later to transfer over to my 4th gen game and then over to Pkm Black.

After all that, I headed over to the Petlburg gym 'cause that's clearly were we need to go.  The gym trainers were a joke being in the 20s wile 1 Standchu is around Lv. 45.  I swear, I haven't done any extra training beyond battling trainers since the second gym. >_<  It didn't help that they wasted their first turn using X-items so I could take them out before they even got to attack.

So after beating all the gym trainers and healing I stocked up on X-items for the gym fight.  Not that I even needed them.  I don't think Nomrman stood a chance against Standchu with his around Lv. 25 Pokemon.  I was a bit concern about his first Slanking so I Sweet Kissed it.  Between hurting itself in that same turn and loafing, it didn't even get the chance to attack me before I finished it off.

While he did get to his with his Vigorth and got me down to half health.  There was no worry.  I just healed myself back up and finished it off.  I was a bit worried about his final Slanking when I went for the Sweet Kiss just to see it had Focus Punch.  Lucky for me it hit itself in confusion and didn't get the chance to attack me between loafing and me constantly hitting it so it couldn't use Focus Punch.  So overall it was an easy win and I didn't have to even restart once.  With that victory I got the next badge and the TM Facade.  I'm considering replacing Strength for it.  Strength has 10 more base power, but Facade power gets double if I'm burned, parlayed, or potion so there is the slight chance it could come in handy.  But I can't get rid of Strength right now so I'm stuck with it anyways.

After that Wally's parents gave me surf which is just what I needed to progress through the game.  Thank you plot!  Between the new shortcuts from surf and the bike trail I quickly make my way over to Mauville City where I can now surf across that water to the right of the city.  Except I forgot I never fought the trainers on there.  Well took care of them and healed since I need to get back the PP I used up at the gym before I progress anyways.  After words I surfed over that water and that is where I am now.  So after I beat these trainers on the other side of the water I think I'm going to be done for now and continue this Only Run another day.  Chao!

PS: Right before I really stopped I ran into Steven who blabbled on about stuff about raising more than one type of Pokemon... I'm doing an Only Run does he really think I care?  Oh and there's news reporters I could battle but it's an Only Run and I don't really need the experience so skipping them for now.

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 7 Aqua and Flanery

So I give the chase to Team Aqua on the top of Mt. Chimney.  They apparently want to use the meteorite to stop the volcano to make a pool or something.  How a meteorite does that?  I don't know, I don't care.  I just beat all of Team Aqua till they surrendered.  Even got to face off against their leader, who's still a joke with a water AND a flying type.  Needless to say, 1 Standchu took on the job quite nicely.

Speaking of easy jobs, I finally had a gym leader fight I didn't have to reset the battle on.  Though looking back the way I did finish the job did look kind-of cheap.

Basically I set up on her first Slugma.  While it was attacking me I got 3-4 X-Specials up and an X-defend though I don't think I even needed the X-defend.  After that, I proceeded to sweep the rest of her team with Thunderbolt.  After that I got the badge.

By the way, 1 Standchu tried to learn Thunder, but I decided to stick with Thunderbolt.  I rather have the better accuracy than hope to get lucky with a stronger attack.

After that Bret, as I said I could call the male rival if I couldn't spell his name, basically told me my character's dad was stronger than me and tried to rub it it... geess do all girls think we guys are as rude as Bret?

Anyways next time, I'll show him by taking out daddy and his gym. Though that may be a while since I go back to school today and video game-wise, I'm only bringing my DSi which unfortunately can't play GBA games.  Sad, 'cause I'm almost half-way there.

Meh, maybe I'll bring my regular DS as well so I can continue this solo run... maybe not.  We'll see.

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 6 Stupid Soot

Well not really an eventful part but I've made my way all the way over to Fallarbor Town and battle all the trainers that were in between.

Along the way I wanted to get one of the flutes since I have a feeling they'll come in handy.  So I got the soot bag that you need to collect enough soot to get them and went along my merry way collecting soot from the grass.

Problem is I didn't use a repel because I'm a cheapstake and only had one repel while collecting the grass and ran into a ton of Pokemon.

It at least made a good grinding moment for 1 Standchu, not that he really needed it but less grinding to do later I guess.

After being just a few steps short several times, I finally get enough to get the Yellow Flute.  Never have to worry about running out of Prism Berries again, yay!

Oh, I should probably mention the clock battery or something is dead on my Pokemon Sapphire game so I can't grow berries.  I found this out the hard way went I planted a Leppa Berry way back when 1 Standchu was a Pichu and it never sprouted.  Way to waste a valuable berry. :(

After that, I went into the cave after that town... I was just there and I already forgot what it was called.  Ran into Team Aqua with Cozomo, some scientist that's all, and they got into an fight with Team Magma.

Team Magma are good guys in this game... I guess and bad guys in Ruby while Team Aqua is vice versa.

So even after all that my character didn't even try to stop them so I guess I got to backtrack and go to Mt. Cornet... I hope that's what the place is called, to stop them.

But first, the trainers that are outside the cave.  More unnecessary experience and necessary money, hurray!

After all this Ralts finally learn teleport, which is going to make things much more convenient from now on.  1 Standchu is all the way at Lv.40... I think I may be overleveled... even for an Only Run.  Nothing I can do about it though.

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 5 Wally and Wallace

After healing up at the Pokemon Center, I ran across Wally, who I help catch his first Pokemon, in front of the 3rd gym.

He wanted to battle me so we battled.  1 Standchu handle him without any problem.  Then I went into the gym and beat all the trainers.  I went to heal then head back to face gym leader Wallace.

Wallace has got to be the easiest gym leader I faced so far.  But that didn't mean he went down without a fight.  The only thing that made me take multiple tries to beat him was dang Voltorb with the stupid self-destruct! >_<

Every battle, the Magamite (sorry for misspellings, I just don't feel like looking up the right way to spell it) would weaken Standchu to the point where self-destruct would finish the job.

The battle I won, I got real lucky.  I got a critical hit on his Magamite with Thunderbolt, taking it out it one shot before it could paralyze Standchu or get any damage on him.  Then I pulled off a sweet kiss and the Voltorb kept hitting itself until Slam could finish the job.

Finally was Magaton.  At this point I won the battle, but I just had to make sure Standchu's health didn't get too low.  Thunderwave made things annoying too but I got the job done.

So now I have 3 badges and now can use Rock Smash outside of battle.  Off to Peddleburg.  I use Rock Smash in the area blocked off by the rocks and got Strength.

I go to teach it to HM Helper and... uh-oh!  He can't learn the move!  But wait, 1 Standchu can, and it's just as powerful as Slam but with 100% accuracy!  HM moves on my main Pokemon in an Only Run might not be a good idea but I'm pretty sure by the time I need to get rid of Strength, I'll be able to with the help of the Move Deleter.

With that, I go back to Rustbro using my new short-cut and restock up on X-Atacks, X-Defends, and X-Speeds and head back to Mawhile.  (By the way I forgot to mention it before, but you can get X-Specials in Peddleburg Mart, I know that will be handy for the future so of course I picked some up.)

Along the way I picked up my Ralts who I left in the Day-care during this time to get some level-ups. It only gain 2 levels and still is a bit away from learning telport.  So I'll stick an exp share on it for now until it learns the move.  I think 1 Standchu has enough experience at this point of the game to share a little with Ralts just till it learns teleport.

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 4 VS Brendan

Well made it to Slateport.  We delivered the goods to Captain Stern.  Oh and we fought some grunts but none of them were tough enough to meation.  In fact they all had water and flying types, both which are weak to electric types so it was a joke.

We met the team Aqua Leader who I believe is Archie but no big deal.

After that I made made my way over to Mauville city and guess who I ran into along the way?  That's right Brendan, and he wants to fight me.

I'll admit it took a few tries and leveling Standchu up a level but I did it.  The thing that really made the fight hard was his Shroomish using Leech Seed and the fact that his starter already evolved into a Marshomp.  I honestly didn't think I would have to worry about the ground sub-type till at least the 3rd fight.

What I did to win in the end was got 2 X-defends and a X-attack up while Shroomish was out.  I also used an X-accuracy I picked up along the way, which I think was extremly helpful since Sweet Kiss and Slam are two key moves I need yet aren't perfect in accuracy.  I just wish I had another one for a gym leader I may need it on but I should eventually be able to buy all these X-items.

Only problem with using the Shroomish to set up was that it was able to get the leech seed on my Pokemon which I had to deal with for the rest of the match since I have only one Pokemon to fight with.

But with my defense up, I didn't have to worry about Mud Shot one-hit-KOing me.  So that made the fight bearable.  He had a Numel too but surprisingly it just kept embering me and didn't use any ground types.  A bit annoying, since it got Standchu burnt so Slam got weaken but my X-Attack kept Slam strong enough to get the job done.

Throughout the fight I had to keep a close eye on my health and use potions and soda pop I got from the beach shop to keep his health out of KOing range.

Overall though, once I got a strategy down the fight wasn't as bad as it could of been.  It just took a few tries to pull off.

Standchu's health was low & I was still burn and since it wasn't a major battle anymore, I put my Ralts out in front and went through the rest of the grass skipping trainers.

Yes I have other Pokemon, and yes I've been training Ralts a bit on the wild Pokemon.  I'll confess to this now.  1 Standchu is still taking on all the trainers I come across so as far as I care, this Only Run is still an Only Run.

I'm only training my Ralts because I want it to learn teleport.  It's a really handy move and I think it'll make training a whole lot easier on me.  Especially since we won't get Fly for quite some time.

Speaking of other Pokemon, my HM helper just  picked up a King's Rock.  That's an item that makes it so any attack on an opposing Pokemon may make it flinch.

It's tempting to use but I think the Silk Scarf will still be more helpful for Standchu for now.

So after beating all the trainers I skipped before, 1 Standchu is all the way at Lv.30.  Feels weird for this point of the game.  But since this is an only run I'll need all the extra levels I can get.

PS:
Can't wait till Ralts learns teleport.  Sadly, it's only at Lv.11 and it learns the move at Lv.16 so I'm still a bit away especially since I want 1 Standchu to get all good experience since he's the only one I'm using in trainer and actual battles. :(

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 3 Two Gyms Down

So I finally evolved my 1 Standchu into a Pikachu.  It took a lot of tedious running randomly running around to increase it's happiness, but I watch some videos that I was going to watch anyways so it wasn't too bad of grinding.

During that time I also gained my first victory against a ground type.  Emoing a Nincia to death with confusion actually worked for once. It evolved right the fight.  I still had to grind it to level 20 to learn Slam but like I said before, I know how to make grinding as enjoyable as it can be.

So I went into the gym and took out the gym trainers without much trouble.  However, despite my grinding Roxane was still no piece of cake.  The way I did it was I had to confuse her Geodude and then I used a Xdefend and a Xattack.  Then it was just a matter of Slamming it away while keeping it confused.

However the Geodude didn't agree and it took at least 3 attempts to take it down.  Her Nosepass was a joke compared to that though since it's a pure rock type so I can actually use thundershock till it goes down.

After getting the badge, Team Aqua was up to no good so I go kick that grunt's butt.  Compared to the gym he was nothing. :p

So that resulted in me being able to progress the plot.  Yeah!  So now I'm in the town with the second gym.

Before heading in, on the town or island more to say I picked up a Silk Scarf with boosts normal-type move which makes it even stronger than Thundershock for now.

Gym trainers are a joke compared to what I've seen before.  No trouble what-so-ever.  I did kind-of underestimated Brawly though.

Machop was OK and I got through it with just Slaming. Really underestimated Makuhita though.  First thing the dang thing did was Sand Attack me until I couldn't do anything.

After that fail attempt, I went in with an actual strategy.  I started with confusing and paralyzing the Machop so I could could get an Xattack on Pikachu so I could sweep through the team with slam before my accuracy gets too low from the sand attacks from Makuhita.

A critical hit from Machop's Karate Chop foiled that plan at first but I pulled off a victory in my 3rd attempt and claimed my badge.

So overall the fight was nowhere near as the first gym leader but it wasn't cake-walk easy.

Then I went off and deliver the letter we got to Steven now that we can use flash and got some nice experience for Standchu.

With all of that, onward to Staleport or something to progress the plot I need to go through to get the next badge. :)

Sorry if I don't remember the names of places it's been a while since I've played this game.

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 2 Challenge Right from the Start

So what is inside the egg? A Pichu! Yeah I'm playing through the game using just that Pichu. Though it can and needs to evolve.

It was a boy and I named it 1 Standchu because it's standing on it's own in this playthrough. Though in this blog I'll call it Standchu for short.

I trained it up a bit before it's first trainer battle and it did pretty well until I got into Pettleburg Woods.

No it wasn't the Aqua grunt. He was a sitnch I spent a bunch of time setting up on him just to realize I didn't even need to.

No it was the bug catcher right after I started having trouble. Those dang Nincada with their ground type. I wouldn't mind if it wasn't for the problem that Pichu's only offense move is Thundershock.

The only thing I could do is use sweet kiss on it and hope it KOed itself in confusion. I almost beat it too. If only Sweet Kiss had more than 10 PP. I was tempted to use an Ether but PP restoring items are so rare I didn't want to waste it.

I'm regretting forgetting Tail Whip instead of Charm. If I kept Tail Whip I could make my foes take more damage from confusion since the damage is based off the difference between a Pokemon's attack and defense.

So I skipped that trainer for now and I'm probably going to have to avoid Bug Catchers and Hikers until Standchu evolves.

Which brings me to my next dilemma.. handling the first gym. I made it to the town it was at but Standchu needs to learn a non-electric attacking move before I can even stand a chance.

The gym is rock types but as you probably know in these rock gyms most if not all the Pokemon are also ground type, which resists electric attacks.

It can't learn Quick Attack since it learns that as a Pikachu at lv. 11 which he was already pass when I learned that. The only other move it can learn I can used is Slam at Lv.20.

Which is ironic since I always complain about how bad Slam is of a move, but it's all I can get.

So I need Standchu to evolve before I can take on the gym but it needs to be before Lv. 20 otherwise I think I'm screwed. Shouldn't be a problem if I just run around to raise Standchu's friendship but it could be a bit tedious. ._.

Well that's about it for now, just started the playthrough and I already need Standchu to evolve. I was kind-of hoping to enjoy Pichu's sprite for a bit more.

My First Pokemon Only Run: Part 1 Setting up

So I started my Pokemon Sapphire game over to do my first ever only run. For those of you who don't know, that's when you play through an entire game with only one Pokemon.  The only time you're allow to use other Pokemon is for HM moves like Cut and Surf outside of battle.  Normally you don't let the Pokemon evolve either but since I have to bring it over as a Pokemon egg I'm gonna make an exception.

So let's begin.  But first I got to get to a point of the game I can trade the egg over before it really begins.  I start the game, chose the girl...hey I never used her before so I wanted to try it out.

I move in and first thing I noticed is that the Brendan's theme (the boy in the game if you chose the female character) is different from May's theme (the girl in the game if you chose the male character) It's not different by much, but enough to notice.

So after talking to him. I head out and see professor Birch is in trouble and I need to choose a Pokemon to help him. I decide to go with Torchic because your rival, May if your a boy Brendan if your a girl, always has the opposite starter to you.

So since I chose the fire starter he'll have the water starter.  Which is going to make this only run easier until that starter evolves then it's gonna be hardest I can make it on me. After all this only run is basically a test to see if I can pull it off in a recorded project.  Worst thing I could imagine is starting an only run playthrough on my Youtube and have to cancel it because it's too hard.

So I'm going to use a Pokemon the same type as the one I'd want to use in the only run. And have my rival have type that completely resists my Pokemon.  If I can beat the game with that set up.  I should have no problem beating an only run for real.

After I save him from a weak Poochyena, (fail), we go back to the lab and he lets me keep the Pokemon.  I give it the name Nanny since it's only purpose is to be there until my egg hatches once I trade it over.

Birch then tells me to go meet up with Bret. (I'm just gonna call him that from now on since I can actually spell it without looking it up every time.  So I head over there and take care of that since I have to beat him before I can get the Pokedex and Pokeballs that will allow me to trade over the Pokemon I'm actually using in this Only Run.

After a little grinding to assure an easy victory it's battle time... and I beat him in 3-4 Scratches.  I'm only at level 7 and he's at 5 I'm not that over-leveled. :p  I get 69 experience and level up. :3  Now we both have to head back to the lab, to get the Poke'dex I assume.  I head back, and I was right.  I also got 5 Pokeballs and the running shoes.

I know just what I'm doing with these Poke'balls too.  First catching a Pokemon to trade over for the egg I'm actually using in the only run, then catching a Zigzagoon.  They actually make great HM slaves because they learn a huge diversity of HMs, including surf.  Got to thank darkfool99's Ruby LP for that pointer.

And speaking of which, as I tried to do that my second wild encounter just happens to be with a Ralts, the rarest Pokemon on the route. I catch it but I don't know if I want to trade it away since it's so rare and I caught it so soon.

Not using it of course, it's still a only run, but teleport might come in handy till I get Fly. I go back to the first route because I wasn't having luck finding the HM slave I wanted and then I find and catch it.  HM slave sounds too mean so I decide to actually call it HM "Helper'. :p

So I finally caught what I needed so now I can go trade the egg with the Pokemon I'm actually using in my only run, hatch it and finally begin this only run.

Just what is this Pokemon I'm doing my only run with?  You'll have to find out in the next blog when it hatches.

Lets Play Upload plan for this summer

Hey guys it's been a while since I've made a blog but with summer finally starting to draw near, I think it makes a good time to thoroughly explain what my plans are Lets Play-wise for the summer.

This week and maybe rest of next week things will stay the sameish with Golden Sun being uploaded around Saturday and bonus videos for Mario Super Sluggers being uploaded around Wednesday.

After that though, my goal is to have a new side Summer LP being uploaded...get this, daily from Mondays to Fridays with Golden Sun episodes being uploaded on the weekends.  So that would be 5 episodes of a new side LP as well as 2 episodes of Golden Sun every week.  Chances are I won't be able to get videos out that frequently but it should be close to that and it is the official plan.

On top of that I'm planning on beginning a 3rd LP during the summer.  I know the general rule of thumb is to never to more than 2 Lets Plays at a time but it's a special exception for a special site.  Nintendo Worlds has their own Youtube channel and I plan on doing a Lets Play on their Youtube channel just for them.  So you'll have to go to their channel to watch it but I'll be keeping a playlist of the playthrough on my own Youtube channel so you'll still be able to reach it going through my Lets Play playlist.

As for a schedule, I hope I can upload 3X a week but it could just be once a week with me already having so many plans on my own channel.  I don't know what the Lets Play I'm gonna do for them is gonna be quite yet, but I'll hopefully figure that out once I actually get home and begin my other side LP.

I'll make an update video on my Youtube channel once I get a more finalized Lets Play plan but in the meantime, you can see that you can expect a lot from me in the near future. :)

You can check out Nintendo World's Youtube channel in this link below:

Making Cuts

Well there's something I want to make sure I get out of the way.  You see I just got grade back for a class I was struggling with last semester and I'm not happy with it.  Furthermore, I'm taking one more class than usual including a class that gave me a huge amount of trouble so I'm going to make a few cuts with what I do on the internet until I at least get a feel of how much time I need to assure I do well in the course.

First of all, I will be reducing the number of forums and sites I go on down to a minimum so there might be some sites that I post comics to that won't be getting any updates for that period of time.

Secondly, I'm going back to uploading just one video a week per Let Play I'm currently doing instead of the usual twice a week.  So Golden Sun will be updated only on Sundays while Mario Super Sluggers will be updated only on Wednesdays.

I am going to start with these changes and adjust them as I see needed over the next couple weeks.  If I feel like I'm on a good pace for example, I might go back to uploading two Mario Super Slugger videos a week. If I feel I need more time, I might make more cuts. I'll at least meantion any changes I make at least through my Twitter account so you don't get too lost when I'll be uploading videos and comics.

One thing for sure, these two main changes will be in play for at least the rest of this week and next week as well.  Only after the first week back to school will I make a further decision of what I can and can't do while giving myself a good amount of class time.
